WRUP: Hourly content update edition

101
Mind if I axe you a question?

Over the past few years, we’ve seen developers fall more and more in love with the idea of making faster and smaller updates to their games. Clearly, the reason people are disappointed with a given patch has nothing to do with the content of the patch and how much it adds and everything to do with the speed of updates. So we propose the new hourly patch model, in which developers take the server offline every 10 minutes to patch in 1% of a new dungeon or map or quest. Delivering the fastest fragments of content you can imagine!

We already use it on Massively Overpowered, more or less! Our current content update is What Are You Playing, in which you tell us what you’re doing for the weekend after we’ve told you what we’re doing. Community interaction! It’s a great thing. In another hour, look forward to our guide to reading other guides to playing your favorite class.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Guild Wars 2, duh! Actually, I’m in the process of downloading The Elder Scrolls Online again, and Justin keeps reminding me that Trove exists and that I really need to try it. Why is it not on Steam yet, darnit?

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Getting my alt geared up and through the main story in Final Fantasy XIV, chiefly. Should weave in some World of Warcraft, too. I hope for a low-key weekend.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m getting toward the end of my WildStar 10-day trial, so I’m definitely trying to take advantage of that in discerning whether or not I’m going to sub back up. I might just spend most of my time making an observation lounge on my housing plot for the northern lights. Apart from that? Star Wars: The Old Republic dailies beckon and perhaps some The Secret World mischief.

Mike Foster (@MikedotFoster, blog): Mostly I’m watching Game of Thrones because apparently that’s a thing I should have already watched. But if there’s any downtime it’s Fire Emblem: Awakening and Dota 2.

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): I’m having fun with the fort in H1Z1, and need to spend time transporting everything over from the little shack. I also need a slew of materials to build it out even more! There will be plenty of EverQuest II adventures and a fair share of ArcheAge farming as well. Sadly, I have to report I’ve given up on doing anything in Landmark until the wipe because all of my crafting stations and props were lost with a bug. Ugh!

Your turn!
